North Coast intensive horticultural producers have a valuable opportunity to optimise their irrigation and drainage management through a free, comprehensive performance assessment program. This initiative is targeting commercial rubus, blueberry, and greenhouse vegetable growers.
The on-farm assessment will be conducted between March and May 2025. Landholders will receive an analysis of current system performance in a customised report highlighting improvement opportunities. Participants will also be provided with one-on-one technical support for any recommended works.
A performance assessment offers multiple benefits;
- By enhancing fertigation efficiency and addressing drainage issues, productivity is maximised through optimised crop performance and improved trafficability.
- The assessment will help identify pumping inefficiencies and opportunities to reduce fertilizer inputs through better fertigation practices, leading to significant cost savings.
- The assessment provides a clear roadmap for future improvements, helping to prioritise retrofit upgrades to maximise the benefits.
Landholders may be invited to partner with Local Land Services on showcasing solutions through demonstration sites and case studies. These collaborative opportunities will help share knowledge about irrigation, nutrient and drainage management across the intensive horticulture industry.
To be eligible, applicants must be commercial producers within the North Coast Local Land Services area and be willing to participate in industry case studies. Priority will be given to growers in coastal draining catchments, particularly around the Coffs Harbour region.
The simple online EOI form takes just five minutes to complete. Submit your Expression of Interest by 23 February 2025 here.
